Coffee Wars
As Reported by Fox News, McDonald's is poised to begin competing with gourmet coffee giant Starbucks. McDonald's plans to add a gourmet coffee bar to each of it's restaurants, selling all types of coffee at prices 60 cents cheaper then Starbucks. This will most likely trigger a showdown between the two companies, that will ultimately benefit the coffee consumers. For those of you who have your doubts about free market capitalism, and its ability to drive prices down trough competition this is a clear example. As many of you have noticed Starbucks, is the definition of a monopoly. It essentially has a stranglehold on the gourmet coffee market, and with that comes the ability to charge what ever they please for their products. McDonald's, no doubt benefiting from its recent upgrade in its regular coffees, smells blood in the water and is looking to take a chunk out of Starbucks' market.
Now I myself am not a fan of gourmet coffee. I prefer my Dunkin Donuts Great One with cream and sugar. However on the occasion that I have been dragged into a Starbucks, the prices have been ridiculous to say the least. Let this be a message to all of you who feel that America is no longer the land of opportunity; If McDonald's can produce a challenge Starbucks why not you. Find a product you feel is overpriced and respond with a better cheaper product. Or perhaps you should find a void in the consumer market and fill it. Enjoy Capitalism while we have it, cause if Hillary or Obama get their way it won't be with us much longer.

err...what?
how can you say starbucks is a monopoly when you're also bringing up dunkin donuts? if the free market makes it successful, then you can bash it, and it's great that people compete against it, but it's not wrong that other people like it
chris is all over the place here....interesting
yeah, for sure starbucks does not have the gourmet coffee monopoly. ever hear of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf? or Seattle's Best? or several others? try looking a little outside your closed box like mind and comfort zone.
another horribly written piece on this horribly biased blog.
