Good News = No News

For the second week in a row there has been nothing but great news coming out of Iraq. Thanks to General Petreaus the U.S. Military has regained control of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad. Yet the good news is not merely limited to military victories. We are also seeing extreme improvement in sectarian relations. This came via the recent Fatwa (Holy Pledge) against violence signed by leaders of the Shiite and Sunni sects. This is a huge step in the direction of peace and security.
Yet with all this great news there seems to be something missing... oh that's right it needs to be reported. Now that Iraq is finally on the right track its now on the back page. All the prime press time has now been divert to predicting when our evil capitalist society will face economic doom. Ever day there is a new story about the dollar's decline or problems in the sub prime. However the great news coming of Iraq is largely ignored. It was only recently that it was even acknowledge by the main stream media. It came when ABC's Charlie Gibson asked President Bush if he was tempted to brag about the obvious success of the surge. Other then that its been ignored.
Now my question is simple now that the media has at bare minimum acknowledged success when are the Democrats going to step up. Remember Harry Reid's prolific announcement "The War is Lost; or when Hillary told General Petreaus, an American hero mind you, that to believe his report required a "Willing Suspension Of Disbelief". The Democrats have yet to step up and apologize for there partisan and largely moronic contentions about the surge. They continue to press for withdrawal and defeat. The Democrats need to listen to Joe Lieberman and start to de-Mcgovernize, otherwise they are dooming there political future by betting on the defeat of the United States.
