One Soldier's Sense of Humor
I just thought this short video made by a US Army soldier in Iraq was hilarious.
By the way, for those of you who know me, my oral board for my entry into the US Army Officer Candidate School is coming up in September. Hopefully my contract will be signed soon and I can head out by October.

this is not humorous at all...i dont understand what is so funny....baghdad was the center of culure and trade back in the 8th and 9th centuries and it pisses me off that some of our soldiers and american citizens don't understand anything about the religion of islam and the pluralistic debates and lifestyles that occur in countries such as iraq....throughout history certain western countries have reduced and generalized entire diverse cultures and civilizations into one savage, extremist block of people that need to be "westernized."
the bush administration needs to grow some balls (and possibly some brains) and understand both the religion of islam and the historic contexts of the countries they so randomly invade. im sure they can try to come up with a more effective way to deal with terrorists.
i'm sorry if that came off a little harsh....good luck with your oral board and i wish you and the other troops the best of luck fighting in this war
Mr. Anonymous,
The MOST effective way to deal with terrorism and Islamic Extremism would be to simply blow that region away. I think the Bush administration has shown a considerable level of moderation when it comes to the War on Terror. I mean, what would the world think of us had we simply "pushed the big red button" persay? How about if we had done nothing? Its a loose-loose situation.
In response to the video, it is a joke. This man is not trying to "generalize" the entire history of the Middle East or its people, nor is he belittling it. He made a joke based on his surroundings.
Furthermore, the desert does "f*cking blow" compared to this beautiful country...lol.

I thought it was funny...but I can see how some might find it offensive. Funny thing about that is that I dont really care. Just like when others make fun of whats important to me, i know its just a joke or those people dont matter.
