Libby will skip out on Prison

President Bush commuted Lewis Libby's sentence today, essentially sparing him from the 30 months in prison he was to receive for not making consistent statements. He will, however, still have to pay the $250,000 fine and serve parole.

Here is the article from the headlines.
Here is the President's Statement.

Tomorrow will be interesting simply because of the massive blow back that liberals will have with this. Barack, Pelosi and others have already begun their assault. Its interesting to see how blown away people are over a ridiculous case such as this...I am convinced it is simply because of Libby's political affiliations and connection to the President.

On that note, here is the full list of pardons that Clinton took upon himself throughout his 8 year run as President.

By the way, since Bush has his pen out, maybe he should look into getting Gilmer Hernandez, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean out of prison.

I believe there is a problem when the President uses his Executive powers to release a man close to him from prison. It is clear that he Bush truly didnt believe that the sentence was too harsh, he simply wanted to get a friend off the hook. I would not be surprised if a full pardon is issued soon and he is relieved of any punishment.

Erick, What was the crime Mr Libby was convicted of? Was a 3 year sentence the correct punishment for his "crime"? What's your opinion about Sandy Berger and his real crime? I think stealing secret government documents and lying about it is a REAL crime, don't you?
