Texas City Passes Anti-Illegal Immigrant Law

Farmers Branch, TX, a suburb of Dallas, has become the first area nationwide that has passed legislation banning landlords from renting or selling property to illegal aliens. The measure passed with a vote of 68% to 32%.

"It says, especially to Congress, that we're tired of the out-of-control illegal immigration problem. That if Congress doesn't do something about it, cities will," said Tim O'Hare, a City Council member who was the ordinance's lead proponent.

Well, its a step in the right direction. This mandate comes in response to the increasing number of individuals who have been purchasing homes in suburban neighborhoods, and splitting the bill with a dozen other people...along with the space. This not only becomes a health or overcrowding issue, it is also a decency issue to those who live next door and then some. Property values decline and the overall image of the area falls as these people bring increased levels of crime, drugs, gang activity and just plain disrespect. The burden, in the end, falls to those who work hard to afford these homes and keep a well maintained home in contribution to the rest of the neighborhood.

Laws are on the books aimed at preventing these instances, however action is rarely taken as it has become a "touchy" issue to do so...

I'm sorry, but I don't really care if they get offended when the government goes to enforce the law...have we forgotten the word "ILLEGAL?". The line needs to be drawn and not compromised. The aspects of language, culture, values, morals, beliefs, social structure, humor, and everything else that makes us Americans is constantly being redefined, and cases like the above are just another example of how its happening.

Think about this: How long before this trend reaches your neck of the woods?

This is just another racist, bigoted view on the people of this land. Get beyond the fact that people live differently than you and accept them for who they are.

Why should everyone have to accommodate themselves to YOUR standards of living? Sounds a little fascist to me.

Jason is a moron and obviously does not own property or plan to own a home in the future. He will probably just live off wefare or some other government program. Programs that take from those of us who work hard everyday to create profit so the government can tax it and use it to pay for Jason's living expenses. Imagine a world where no one or company makes a profit- then there would be no one to tax- then Jason's dream world (or any nation including the US) would cease to exist. Jason should kiss the feet of those of us who create profit for him to use and abuse. By the way, Jason is the Racist, Bigot Extremist- he does not appreciate or accept other peoples point of view- only his narrow view or the world, in this case, its OK for illegal immigrants to live here and buy property and receive government help and break the law. Want proof Jason is a Bigot? Just read his postings on this site.
As a side note JASON- here in Maryland within the past 6 months, a young married couple (including a soldier who just finished serving two tours in Iraq) and two young girls were both killed in separate car accidents involving TWO separate drunk, illegal immigrants driving without drivers licenses. Your idea of "people live differently and accept them for who they are" does not work.

Jason, why don't you move to a country that has no laws? After all that is what you seem to prefer. May I recommend the Sudan, Congo, Darfur or how about Mogadishu in Somalia. I understand that city fits your desired profile exactly- anyone from anywhere can come and go as they please.

Back to Carl's original post. I live in a community that has had problems with immigrants violating exisitng housing codes. These are not new codes but laws that have been in place since 1978. The violations are mostly too many people sharing one home. The end results are: trash everywhere, cars parked in yards, noise all hours of the night, increased traffic thru residential streets and commercial vehicles blocking streets and sidewalks. This has caused property values to decrease by almost 8% in the past year. Jason, How would you like losing $40,000?
