Sheehan Gives it Up

Cindy Sheehan is done with the anti-war movement. "I have tried ever since he died to make his sacrifice meaningful," she wrote. "Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives." Her letter of resignation was poetically titled, "Good Riddance, Attention Whore."

I honestly feel bad for Mrs. Sheehan. She was just plain used by the lost liberal and anti-war advocates in this country. They used her son, her pain and her passion for their own political gains. I believe she finally saw this. While her and I do not see eye to eye on the war and other aspects of this country, she tried to fight for something she felt was worthwhile. She did not, however, believe the liberal democrats would live up to their character as hypocrites. They know just as well as anyone else with the power or will to research the issue themselves that the War on Terror is vital. They simply used activists like Cindy for political gains.

Now we finally have a war finding bill with no price limit or timetable. Mrs. Sheehan will go home and attempt to rebuild the family she has destroyed. Politicians will continue to play politics

"My son did indeed die for nothing," Mrs. Sheehan wrote before departing. I like to believe he died for our freedoms, for you, and for me. God Bless Casey Sheehan and the many others who have fought for this great land.
