Hugo Silences the People

Hugo Chavez has silenced the final remaining television network with an opposing view to the/his socialist philosophy. The protesters who gathered to show their disagreement with Chavez's ways were met with tear gas and rubber bullets from soldiers.

Now there is total control in Venezuela as Chavez has removed all opposition in the media. Globovisión has been replaced with a government run public service broadcast network.

This is very similar to what the liberals have been attempting to pass in this country with the Fairness Act, a piece of legislation that claims to "level the playing field" by banning conservatives on the radio and television who hold large ratings.

The way I see it, if the people choose to listen and participate with conservative talk, liberal talk, socialist talk or totalitarian talk, then that is the choice of the people. Simple because more people choose conservative ideas today in the media is not reason to claim that liberals are not getting a fair shake...it simply means that most people don't want to hear liberals.

What does oppressing one side of the spectrum get us anyways?

By the way, Bolivia and Ecuador (also liberal nations) are about to follow suit by taking hostile action against their media outlets and Hugo is now suing CNN for linking his administration to Al-Qaeda.
