Environmentalist Nuts calling for a 20 MPH Speed Limit

Here we go again, add another aspect of living to the list. The measure to lower speed limits across London within 3 years is aimed to improve both the climate and road safety. The following is from the Evening Standard:

"Jenny Jones, the Mayor's Green road safety adviser, said she had discussed the plan with Ken Livingstone and that he backs more 20mph zones, but needed a little "arm-twisting" to accept their introduction across London."

A little arm-twisting? Forget that. They can try to force people all they'd like, they will not be able to persuade a majority of the people anywhere in Western society to adapt such an extreme piece of legislation. Or will they? With this whole hysteria (religion) of Man Made Global Warming in place, along with the nuts that push it and refuse to debate, I would not be surprised.

Read more here.

With that, look up Glenn Beck's recent special through CNN Headline News called "Exposed: Climate of Fear" on Google Video or YouTube. Very insightful and attempts to open up the debate that Al Gore and friends claim has ended.

I believe it has only begun...you tell me.

Just about...I don't understand it. And with this move, it only adds to the list that these kooks have compiled over the past year or so during this whole Glbal Warming fad.

Global warming fad is the correct terminology. It is a fad and religion that is out of control. All that is broadcast about the shrinking north pole ice cap- but no says anything about the FACT that the southern ice cap has been increasing. Also- what about tyhe FACT that April was the coldest month in the east in over 110 years!!!!! Maybe we all need to drive faster and drive big V8 vehicles to warm things up?????

Facts:
NOAA just announced that April 2007 was the coolest month for the contiguous U.S. on record since 1901 with an average temp of 51.7 degrees F. Alaska had its fourth the warmest April on record with average temp of 5.96 F. But in March 07 Alaska had its coldest month since 1895.
Over the past century, global surface temps have been increasing at a rate of 0.11 degrees F per decade and some data shows global temps have increased by 0.30 degrees F per decade since 1970. OK- so the global warming crowd latches on these more recent numbers and says we (the U.S. and other developed nations) are to blame because we have too many cars and light bulbs... Well what do you global warming freaks say about these all time records-
(I'm sticking to the northern hemisphere because that seems to be where all the concerns are)
March 1910 , warmest on record
Alaska: June 27, 1915 100 degrees, warmest of all time. May 1912 93 degrees, Sept 1883 89 degrees.
Coldest 1970 minus 80 degrees (coldest on record) 1999 minus 72 degrees. Additionally, scientific data from exploration in Antartica leads many scientist to beleive that the warmest period on earth was 100,000 years ago. According to NOVA (PBS) the most recent warming period on earth was 12,000 years ago. So I have to ask- Where were all the cars and light bulbs in 1915, 1910 or 1883?
Further: Swiss and German scientists have been studying the sun's brightness for over 20 years and they conclude that the sun is brighter today that it was 100 years ago. They also question the effects of increased sun spot activity over the past 50 years. Is it possible that the sun may have something to do with warming temps? What about the earths core? Which by the way is estimated to be 7000 degrees F. Can we all do better and reduce harmful emmisions and be kinder to the planet? Yes. But lets be reasonable, humans are not in complete control of global climate, the sun or the earths core. So driving slower, not using plastic bags or V8 engines will have no effect.

Just wanted to point out that the majority of the support for reducing the speed limit comes from road safety experts because of the amount of vehicle related fatalities in London, not "Environmentalist Nuts."
Notice the little kids holding the signs in your picture? Child pedestrian accidents dropped by 70% in areas where the limit was reduced from 30 mph to 20 mph.

That's alright that you wanted to turn it into a global warming debate though. Whatever you need to do for a blog.

In case you were wondering, it was your article in the Charger Bulletin that sparked my interest back up for your website. It's just as ridiculous as I'd remembered it. It's good to see a conservative who wears his heart on his sleeve and shows how truly out of touch he is even with his own generation. Anyway, I hope you're pleased with your final editorial in the Charger Bulletin. You'll get to be remembered as the guy who turned a concert review into a racist debate. With luck, you can apply your narrow minded views to your career. I heard the LAPD was hiring.

Yes, it was an idea to lower accidents AS WELL AS limit emissions. In regards to my last article, you must not have read my piece, those of the people who wrote the week before calling out the planners and calling them racists, or the ones this past week.

I stated the exact same argument that those who wrote this past week did: That this should not be a racial issue and "music and entertainment cross racial boundaries." Try to read past the headlines big guy.

FYI: I will be remembered for a lot of things, including speaking up for the vast number of people here who felt they were forced to remain silent and looked to me to do something about a wrong. I had a number of friends that planned the Spring Concert and were labeled racists because they didn't book a hip hop act this year. One way street?

Also, I will be entering the Army this summer and taking the next 3 years to protect your right to bash anyone who doesn't see things your way, then I will enter law enforcement. Way to sink to new lows in trying to call me out on my career choices, and those brave serving with the LAPD and others...

Word of advice, get past name-calling and insulting to try and legitimize your arguments. I have 3 radio shows left before departing, so the offer still stands if you want try and actually discuss your views rather than hide behind them with rude ranting and immature responses. Comfortable bashing me behind your computer? Gonna keep ducking me?

I look forward to your excuse this time big guy.
