Al Gore: The Prophet

Al Gore spoke before the House Energy and Commerce Committee yesterday on the issue of climate change, stating that our planet is being presented with its Thermopylae moment. There was a certain level of favoritism shown as the committee granted him a 30 minute introduction, which is rarely allowed and restricted to 15 minutes max. Just to sum it up, apparently we're all going to burn up and die...and it's all our fault (Doesn't Al use private jet planes?).

First off, why is the House Committee that concerns itself with climate change hearing from someone whose not a scientist, climatologist, oceanographer, etc? Al Gore is a politician with a Tennessee tobacco farmer back ground. Yes, he gave a riveting presentation via PowerPoint, but how does this qualify him? During his testimony, he compared todays congress to the warriors from "300." He went on to say that those 300 Spartan's did what they knew was right, so our congress is today's "535."

Is he serious? This just goes to show how ridiculous this whole movement has gotten. They talk about standing up for what they believe is right, but they bash the conservatives who support our security here at home and our allied abroad. The Global Warming religion has grown so far and wide that technically, they are the 1 million warriors of the Persian Empire that is descending upon the rest of us.

I will still stand for my belief...one that has no political agenda, does not point the finger at people and their choice of lifestyle, and has the backing of science. The Global Warming movement is a hoax, and we've all been had. Check out the the "Great Global Warming Swindle" by British filmmaker, Martin Durkin (Can be found on YouTube or Google Video). I don't know why he called it a "swindle," but then again, he is British. No worries though, great film and research.

Check back for more to come my friend.

I would love to hear this "science" that you speak of that disproves global warming. I have a good fact for ya that is very basic (right up your alley) and proves it: its getting warmer every year.

The following refers to Carl's wording and how I interpreted it, but I'm going to leave it to him to fully clarify himself.

Carl isn't disproving global warming; he does say, "The Global Warming movement is a hoax," but he mentions the global warming movement and not that global warming is not true.

The term "Global Warming Movement" refers to the trend that certain politicians (mainly Al Gore these days with his award winning PowerPoint) are concerned with global warming but present their accusations against the United States with a hidden political agenda. Especially because it is so well publicized, "An Inconvenient Truth,", scares the general public about global warming because it tries to say that it is our fault. How nice of Al Gore to give us a solution.

With all biases aside, his presentation has a good amount of science to back it up, but there is a big problem with his PowerPoint. The relationship that Al Gore makes between his "facts" is false. The science that he uses may be plausible, but it is hard to quote the movie as fact because of this mixup. The relationship that is used throughout the PowerPoint and concludes his argument is backwards. He is close to being accurate... but yet so far from it. No one should take this entire movie as fact and because the one very crucial relationship to his argument is false, every other statement in his presentation is therefore false until proven otherwise with unique and additional research.

All the science that backs up the counterargument is fully explained in the video that Carl names at the end of his posting.

I suggest that you watch it because it really makes you become skeptical of all of the substance related to global warming that we have been taught in elementary school. What we believed is true can now be questioned.

These days, though, people believe Al Gore because he is a well-recognized public figure and because most people don't know enough about his argument to refute it without significant research. Even those who know science could over look the correlation reversal, because one would believe that if Al Gore is going to make such a public documentary, he would at least make the right relationship between two points of science.

This just reminds you to not believe everything you read (or see, or hear).

History tells us Global Warming is not a new issue, just a new name. Remember the Greenhouse Effect in the 70s? President Reagan signed the 1987 agreement to reduce emissions and the ozone improved with one policy. President George Bush Senior referred to this as the White House Effect.

There is room for improvement and I do beleive the policymakers will make some good decisions. Currently now, here in CT the representative in Cromwell has a bill to outlaw the old type of light bulbs and only allow the more energy efficent ones sold here. I don't mind. It seems the only way to get people to do the modify their behavior is through laws. Don't you agree?
