Yes, Cut the Funding for our Protectors...Great Idea

Now that the congress has failed to pass the purely symbolic, non-binding resolution against the troop surge, they are going to focus on something I did not think they had the fortitude for: The funding for the war.

The White House released the following statement. "This week's voting gave the world a glimpse of democracy's vigor...The next votes should provide unmistakable assurance of this nation's resolve in achieving success, supporting the cause of democracy, and stopping terrorist forces in their ultimate aim of bringing their violence to our shores."

Glad to hear it, I look forward to the debate. Essentially, the democrats are going to try and prove they are not completely full of it when they speak out against our efforts by trying to cut funding for the war. This would force the president and our forces to cut back as well. Great message to send to our soldiers...and they enemy they face. John McCain put it well, stating that these measures were a "waste of time" and "insulting to the public and the soldiers." The way I see it, we have a General on the ground in Iraq saying he needs the additional troops in order to secure the dangerous parts of Iraq (Sunni Triangle), and politicians here at home attempting to prevent that support. This only makes the conditions more dangerous. By the way: Outside of the Sunni Triangle (major Baghdad region), 90% of the public in Iraq have reported feeling "very safe" in their neighborhoods (www.defenselink.mil). Give them the support to finish off the rest.

Now, what I do not get is the fact that the Democrats claim they support our troops whole-heartedly. How can that be so? They do not believe in what they are fighting for, their actions, and are now going to attempt to cut off their monetary support. This all comes after failing to pass a resolution that simply said a majority of the congress was opposed to an escalation. Do they really think a majority is going to be for cutting the funds out from under our protectors?

These are dangerous waters we are beginning to get into. Our enemies now have a group of people in this country who are attempting to cut the support of their opposition and remove them from the battlefield: The Democrats.

Start writing to your congressmen/women people...

this just might be one of the most biggoted and slanted views on the war I have ever read. If you really believed in preserving "american freedom and saftey" you should have joined the military. The us is no safer today than it was on 9/11 and did you forget, the terrorists from 9/11 werent from iraq. We spend all this time looking for sadaam and sticking our noses into the iraqis business that we have lost sight of the real problem. Wheres bin laden? Maybe hes hiding with the WMDs that were all over iraq. America needs to learn that its not the "protector of the world ordefender of freedom" we have enough problems here at home , everyday we lose more freedoms and rights which we are trying to gain for the iraqis. I dont understand how someone who follows this war and policits so closely can be so biased. You'll probably be president one day, all you need to do is figure out how to rid the polls... it worked twice before

Good comment and thoughts Carl. I am disturbed by Jason's comments here. First, Jason do you know the meaning of the word bigot? apparently not. Bigot:(noun)Intolerant person. One who has strong opinions and refuses to accept different views. Carl does not meet this criteria. If you have read his other posts or listened to the radio show, you would realize you are incorrect. It seems more likely that YOU are intolerant and the bigot. You refuse to accept Carl's differnt thoughts and opinions. You also spelled bigoted incorrectly.
In addition...You say we, the US are no safer today than on 9-11, what planet are you on? There has been no attacks on our soil since we took the fight over to the terrorists part of the world. The front line of the battle is over there- not here. It does not matter if its in Iraq or Afganistan or anyhere else overseas as long as its not in our neighborhood (read the Art of War by Sun Tzu).

Bin Laden- he may be dead... He may be alive. We have caught or killed at least 180 of his top leaders. Do you believe this has no importance to our safety and security? One guy we may not have killed is what you focus on rather than the positive accomplishments achieved so far.

Iraq & WMD's, The present administration AND the previous Clinton Administration AND most everyone in Congress agreed that Sadam and Iraq was a threat to our security and the security of the entire middle east region. Did you forget that Sadam violated over 16 UN (not US) sanctions and resolutions?
DId you forget that Sadam murdered/exterminated over 1 million Iraqi's?
Did you forget that the US and coalition forces did find some WMD's? Including two mobile bio weapon labs, over 900 chemical missle warheads, several 55 gal drums of chemical weapons and over one hundred banned missles? Did you forget about several news reports from YOUR media in 2003 and 2004 stating that some WMD's and many Iraq air craft were moved to Iran just before the invasion?

"America needs to learn that it is not the protector of the world or defender of freedom"- what a stupid statement. If not us, then who? France? Russia? Cambodia? Jason, who is suppose to help support the weak of this world? Who is suppose to help them help themselves? Or would you rather we just pull back within our borders and let the rest of the world suffer. Remember WWII- we tried to sit that one out. We waited until we were attacked. Now
some would say we waited too long to get involved and if we had sooner- more lives would have been saved. WE, the US helped save the world then, What's difference now???? Whenever ther is a humanitarian or military problem on this planet, which country does every other country turn to? The US. Like it or not we are the leaders of the world and we have to accept that responsibility.

I guess Jason would like us not to send the huge amounts of aid that we currently do to many countries around the world. Food, Medicine, financial assistance and yes, military assistance.

Rig the polls. Jason your completely biased and misinformed. Florida in 2000, yes there was problems and they were not on the federal level. After 6 recounts, three of which were conducted by the media-no government. G W Bush won the election by more votes than originally counted.

In 2004 Ohio was called into question- problems, yes. Recount results again favored G W Bush by increasing margins. What about the other real voter fraud? I'm talking about the state democrat commitees that have had several leaders indicted for voter registration fraud which included registrations of dead people and some people registered several times under different names. We are not talking about dozens af illegal registrations- its hundreds of thousands. Or how about the Democrat attempt in Maryland last fall to allow people to vote with out ID of any kind. No proof of who you are, just show up and vote.Do you like that idea?

My suggestion Jason is for you to open your eyes and educate yourself from several sources. Seek out information and fact based statistics then formulate your final opinions. Think for yourself, stop using the standard liberal and media talking points. You also need to learn to spell and construct sentences properly.
