Stalling for time in Iran
Earlier today, Iran's Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, issued a statement claiming that the United States could not endure another war and pushed the idea that negotiations is the best way to deal with the current nuclear standoff.I'm sorry, but this is a load of bull. This past week, Iran ignored a UN sanction to halt nuclear development, even going so far as to building hundreds of new centrifuges. The United States (us) has taken this very seriously, vowing to take care of this threat if necessary. Dick Cheney said that the U.S. was working with it allies to persuade Iran to give up its nuclear weapons programs, and that it was Washington's preference for that to happen peacefully. He concluded, "But all options are still on the table."
As far as I can tell, Iran is stalling. They have been caught, numerous times. Their leader has been quoted in public stating his hate for Israel and the western world, as well as his intentions to acquire nuclear weapons. Now they are using the division here at home over the current war in order to try and prevent us from taking action against their nation. This has essentially turned into a situation where Iran is teasing us and saying we can't stop anything they are doing because "America in [is not in] a position to impose another crisis on its tax payers by starting another war in the region."
Are they serious?
The answer is yes, very serious. On top of that, they are right. Without being united here at home, they know that they can push us around politically on this issue. They also know that the only way we will unite against them is if another attack comes to our people...by then will it be too late? Time will tell.
In my mind, they have broken the rules and should pay dearly. I think this show of who can flex their muscles the most in the middle east needs to come to an end...and we are the nation that needs to do it.

Iran is a problem and will grow to be a huge problem completely destabilizing the mid east and eventually the world. Something must be done to stop their nuclear program and lying, out of control government. This is not BS people- pay attention to this situation. I have been around for over 47 years and have never seen anything so dangerous (except the Cuban missle crisis).
That being said... I don't think we need to take military action soon. We need to secure the Iraqi boarders (and our own).
We need to let the economic war (sanctions) run it's course. Iran is near economic collapse. High unemployment in the 16 to 20% range, low wages and supply shortages have caused most of the citizens in Iran do not support their president. Even Syria is not happy with Iranian leadership and other mid east countries are applying pressure.
Iran is only producing 3 million barrels of oil a day. 10 years ago it was over 6 million. They have very old drilling and refining equipment. It costs Iran almost $50.00 a barrel to produce oil. Now you know why Saudi Arabia and Opec recently increased production thus lowering oil to near $56.00 a barrel.
The US has used it's influence to stop other countries from selling Iran new oil drilling and refining equipment. Pressure needs to be put on Russia and China.
These sanctions/actions have the POSSIBILITY to resolve the worlds issues with Iran, all that's needed is time. How much time is anyones guess.
