What Our Enemies Think of Us
My support of the War on Terror, mainly the Iraq War, has been recently questioned by people around me (Let me assure you, it has not deterred me in my ways). Today, it continued when I was told that one can learn a lot about himself by listening to his enemies. I agree, this is very true. With that, lets take a look at some examples of why our enemies in the middle east hate us so, and I'll start by firing off a few:We drink. We do drugs. We have sex. We make money. We buy things. We have entertainment. We relax. We take vacations. Yada Yada Yada, so on and so forth. These lead to my next point...
We have a high standard of living (and its producer, Capitalism). That does not go over well with those in more desperate parts of the world who then resort to violence, thievery and radical ideologies in their attempt to bring us down and them up. So, we are apparently evil for building a powerful nation that provides opportunity for its people. I'll continue...
We go after those who threaten us. In other words, we fight the friends of our enemies. Is that really bad? Someone comes at you, you go right back at them. I do not believe in changing ourselves to accomodate our enemies so that they will back off a little. Should we have begun a push to empower the Arian race and "get rid" of all those who were different during the 1930's and 40's to accomodate Hitler and his radical ideology? I think not, and I am glad we caught this one (Hussein) in its beginning stages rather than taken a position of complacency...hats off to you France.
We accept homosexuality on a completely unacceptable level according to the likes of our enemies. Iran has executed individuals (including teens) for having gay sex. Drinking alcohol, taking/selling drugs, or having any sort of sexual contact outside of a heterosexual marriage are all punishable offenses...by death (as seen in the above photo of Iranian youths Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni, executed in 2005 for having gay sex) . By living, we are creating an "unacceptable world" by our enemies standards. Their solution is weakening and destroying us through violence and fear. Next, here comes the big one...
We are not all of the Islamic faith. Worse though, is that we are overwhelmingly a Christian nation. The Qur'an itself encourages violence against "non-believers" and "sinners" of our caliber. For example, Mohammed said to the masses "Convert or Die!" while Jesus preached "Believe and Live." I'll go on: Surah 8, Verse 39 from the Qur'an states "And fight them [Non-Believers] until there is no more tumult or oppression and there previal justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere." If you are curious to see more quotes from their holy scripture along these lines, please comment and I will be glad to accomodate you. No Rosie, "radical Christianity" is not as dangerous as radical Islam. See more on their radical bull below on the December 30 posting.
Bottom line: They hate us because of who we are, but does that mean we should have to change? I am proud of what we have built and who we are. I am not converting to Islam or giving up the rights that this nation has granted me. I will, however, go overseas and fight this menace to protect our rights and freedoms here at home if I must. I believe in this cause of liberating the world of terror and violence, and I recognize that in this world filled with radicals. Freedom is not free, and I will gladly pay my "buck o' five" (a little humor for those of you who have seen "Team America") to preserve it here in this country.
