The Democrats take control of Congress and...

...Nothing happens. Big whoop. The democrats finished up a 4 day celebration of receptions, parties, "tea times" and other social affairs today as the new electee's took office. The way the high and mighty media talked about it (and the way the dems talked about themselves) you would think the whole world was waiting on the edge of their seat for this to take place. All this caps off a year of bashing Republicans, the current administration, our overall handling of terrorism, and the American way of life. If nothing else, at least they kept up with their resolutions from last year.

I will forcast this much from the Dems in the near future:

1. The minimum wage will increase nationwide and do no good whatsoever. The only result will be a decrease in the value of the US dollar. Our capitalist, free market economy is such that it adjusts with time to any changes in the pay scales. Sure, pay everyone $10/hr so they all feel good about the money they are making. Over a couple years however, all that will add up to is higher paying jobs above minimum wage, higher costs on products and services for the consumer (us) and and general evening-out of the economy's money market. In the end, $10/hr then will feel just like $6/hr feels like now (because a Big Mac will goto 8 bucks, generally speaking). This is a "feel good" measure by the Dems to gain support and make people believe that they are doing good for the people (well played smart politics). Also, to counter the claim that many families in poverty are trying to support themselves on "poor" minimum wage, only 0.6% of our workforce is on minimum wage...and they are mostly high school kids.
2. Numerous investigations on Republican leadership all the way up to the President. Contrary to popular crazy liberal opinion, they do not have any reason or the support for impeachment (so keep quiet Mrs. Sheehan). They will conduct investigations on how we interrogate terror suspects, the usage of the Patriot Act, our monitoring of suspected overseas and domestic terrorists through phone, email, bank accounts, etc. What message does this send to our enemies battling overseas? I'm sure who they would've voted for if allowed to...
3. They will screw up. Period. With the San Francisco liberal, Nancy Pelosi, in the middle of it all (its almost a given). Whether the media picks up on it is a different story, which is exactly why I gather my news from the most balanced source! (see below, 12/26/06)

Look forward to the coming months and keep an eye out. Democrats love to raise taxes, play politics and tell you how to live. Do not be fooled. I see promise in the future for traditional conservatives as we enter a dangerous era. By the way, if you were on the edge of your seat...you need to get out more.
