Sammy "Burglar" Berger

Heres the situation: Sam Berger (a former Clinton national security advisor) admits to stealing and destroying classified documents that were of serious importance to the 9/11 Commission. Essenially, these documents were created during the Clinton Administration that contained information about the threat of terrorism on US soil. History shows us that these warnings and thensome were obviously ignored by the above adminsitration (hint hint).

It gets better: Apparently after the Inspector General of the National Archives released this information about Berger's theivery, the Department of Justice attorneys went easy on him, recommending far weaker punishments than the presiding judge had insisted on. DoJ officals went on to say that "no original information had be lost." The troubling thing about this statement is that it covers up the fact that there was a loss of added information (annotations by the administration) to the documents that would have given greater insight into the thought process of those responsible for dealing with the threat of terror.

Now, heres where it gets interesting: Look at a case like Lewis Libby's (suspected CIA leak case) where he has been found innocent of all charges in the investigation. However, the DoJ is still prosecuting him criminally because his statements during the investigation were not consistent. Not only is he being prosecuting heavily, he is all over the drive by media with the tag of "liar." By the way, Libby is the former Chief of Staff, assistant for National Security Affairs to Dick Cheney, as well as a former presidential advisor (aka: Republican).

So, Sam Berger (Clinton Democrat) stole and tampered with top secret documents for some unknown reason and is being let off the hook simply because he is said to be disorganized, implying it may have been on accident (Grade-A Bull). Lewis Libby (Bush Republican) is found innocent of any wrong doings in a current FBI investigation, yet is still criminally prosecuted because of his inaccurate statements during the investigation (maybe he's disorganized as well?).

I must ask myself, why is Mr. Ber-glar getting off on easy street while Libby gets the book thrown at him?. Sam Berger STOLE and DESTROYED top secret US information on terrorism for the purpose of hiding something and/or protecting someone. I see a hell of a lot of smoke, there must be a roaring fire somewhere...maybe in Chappaqua?
